Match of the Round
Queanbeyan Kangaroos vs Goulburn Workers Bulldogs- 3pm, Saturday 28 April- Seears Workwear Oval / Live Stream
The Round 4 match of the round sees the Queanbeyan Kangaroos host the Goulburn Workers Bulldogs.
The Kangaroos lost in Round 2 and are coming off the bye but Queanbeyan second rower, Troy Whiley, believes the week off may not have come at the right time.
“I think we need to play as much football as we can at the moment,” Whiley said. “Obviously we haven’t gelled yet, so we need to have a good game against Goulburn.”
Whiley points to his side’s defence as the reason behind their slow start in 2018.
“We can score points, it’s just our defence and obviously our attitude,” Whiley said.
The Goulburn Workers Bulldogs are also heading into the clash without a win after losing to the Tuggeranong Bushrangers last weekend.
Goulburn Workers co-captain, Nic Whatman, says his side will have to be at their best against the Kangaroos.
“They’ll have a strong forward pack and they’re a really physical team, so we’ll have to start well and hold that middle third of the field really well,” Whatman said.
Gungahlin Bulls vs Queanbeyan Blues- 3pm, Sunday 29 April- Gungahlin Enclosed Oval / Live Stream
The Gungahlin Bulls head into this clash still searching for their first win of the season.
The Queanbeyan Blues meanwhile have won two of their first three matches. They thrashed the Belconnen United Sharks by 50 points last week, just seven days after they were beaten by the West Belconnen Warriors 40-0.
The Blues will be hoping to win and keep the pressure on the top 2, while the Bulls will be wanting to open their account for 2018 sooner rather than later so they don’t lose touch with the rest of the competition.
West Belconnen Warriors vs Woden Valley Rams- 3pm, Saturday 28 April- Raiders Belconnen
The West Belconnen Warriors welcome the Woden Valley Rams this week, hopeful of keeping their place on top of the ladder.
The Warriors backed up their flogging of the Blues in Round 2 with a win over the Bulls and they’ll be looking to make it three straight wins this week.
The Rams were unable to back up their great Round 2 win last week and will be hoping to bounce back against the Warriors.
Yass Magpies vs Tuggeranong Bushrangers- 3pm, Saturday 28 April- Walker Park
The Tuggeranong Bushrangers are one of just two undefeated teams and have made a very promising start to the season.
They will give themselves every chance against the Yass Magpies who needed a field goal to overcome the Rams last week.
The Magpies have had three close games to start the season, a stark contrast to the Bushrangers who have won each of their matches by at least ten points.
