A Tyler Stevens hattrick helped the Queanbeyan Blues secure their fourth Queanbeyan derby in five attempts, as they defeated the Kangaroos by 16 points.
The Roos opened the scoring in the fifth minute through Brent Crisp but the Blues hit back strongly as Terry Campese set up three tries before halftime.
The Kangaroos scored either side of halftime to level the scores but the Blues put their foot on the accelerator once again as Tyler Stevens scored two tries and Josh Stuckey added another.
Bailey Hitchcock crossed for the Kangaroos in last minutes of the match but Aisea Taholo put the icing on the cake for the Blues with a try in the corner against his former club.
Tuggeranong Bushrangers 40 (Tries: M Gruber 2, P Antonio, M Brophy, D Hickson, J Mitchell, B Nanesa; Goals: J Mitchell) d Belconnen United Sharks 10 (Tries: J Brown, D Faigafa; Goals: A McDonald)
The Tuggeranong Bushrangers bounced back from their first loss of the season with a comfortable 30 point win against the bottom of the ladder Belconnen United Sharks.
Daniel Hickson crossed the line first for the Bushrangers before Michael Brophy, Josh Mitchell and Matt Gruber extended Tuggeranong’s lead to 24 points.
The Sharks started the second half in better fashion and scored their first points of the day thanks to Des Faigafa.
Tuggeranong props, Ben Nanesa and Phaebian Antonio, both barged over the line for four pointers to secure the result before the Sharks scored late in the match.
Woden Valley Rams 34 (Tries: M Gilmour, C McGhie, J McKenzie, J Moala, J Morgan, K Vaetoe; Goals: J Morgan 3, R Leapai 2) d Gungahlin Bulls 20 (Tries: C Smith, D Low, B Scholes, R O’Sullivan’ Goals: C Smith, J Scholes)
The Woden Valley Rams snapped their three game losing streak with a 14 point win against the Gungahlin Bulls.
The Bulls opened the scoring when Drury Low powered over the line but the Rams hit back when Junior Moala charged through the Gungahlin defence.
Quick tries to Joel McKenzie and Cleve McGhie gave the Rams breathing space but the Bulls remained in the contest when a Dylan Hately cut-out pass found Brad Scholes.
The two sides traded tries as Michael Gilmour scored for Woden before Cody Smith hit back.
Keb Vaetoe sprinted half the length of the field after the Rams charged down a Hately kick before Jeff Morgan secured the result.
Rourke O’Sullivan grabbed a late try for the Bulls but it was mere consolation as the Bulls couldn’t build upon their win the previous weekend.
West Belconnen Warriors 26 (Tries: T Aroha-Tuinauvai, L Afa, H Brown, R Thomas, M Campbell; Goals: M Campbell 3) d Goulburn Workers Bulldogs 12 (Tries: J Fattore 2; Goals: C Hart)
The West Belconnen Warriors remain at the top of the table as they defeated the Goulburn Workers Bulldogs at Workers Arena.
After a tense opening stanza, the Warriors opened the scoring in the 28th minute thanks to Tevita Aroha-Tuinauvai.
Josh Fattore hit back for the Bulldogs but West Belconnen went into the break with a 10-6 lead after Ryley Thomas burst through the Goulburn defence.
Two tries in three minutes after the break solidified the Warriors’ lead but Fattore grabbed a double to keep the contest alive.
However a Matt Campbell try 10 minutes from fulltime wrapped up the result as the Warrior’s maintained their unbeaten streak.
