Blumers Lawyers CRC Round 6 Preview

The Grand Final rematch dominates this weekend’s fixtures, as the Tuggeranong Bushrangers host the Woden Valley Rams.

Tuggeranong Bushrangers v Woden Valley Rams
3pm, Saturday May 18 – Greenway

The Tuggeranong Bushrangers are flying at the moment as last year’s runners up sit at the top of the ladder.

The Bushrangers have won all four matches and boast the best defensive record in the competition.

Interestingly, the Bushrangers attack ranks only sixth with the bottom of the ladder Yass Magpies only having scored 10 points less.

Last year’s premiers, the Woden Valley Rams, enter the local derby on the back of a narrow win over the Queanbeyan Kangaroos.

The win halted Woden’s run of two losses as their previous undefeated 15 game streak came to an end.

Woden have won the last three matches between the two south Canberra sides, with Tuggeranong’s last win in this fixture coming in a Round 1 win at Greenway last year.

Belconnen United Sharks v Yass Magpies
3pm, Saturday May 18 – O’Connor

The Belconnen United Sharks and Yass Magpies both enter this fixture desperate for a win as they look to start moving up the ladder.

Both sides suffered heavy defeats last week as the Sharks lost to Goulburn 60-20, while the Magpies lost 60-12 against the Queanbeyan Blues.

A win for either side could see them rise to seventh on the ladder.

West Belconnen Warriors v Goulburn Workers Bulldogs
3pm, Saturday May 18 – Raiders Belconnen

The third placed Goulburn Workers Bulldogs travel to Raiders Belconnen to take on the fourth placed West Belconnen Warriors.

The Warriors enjoyed the bye last week but will be hoping to produce consistent performances after they have claimed two wins and two losses.

The Bulldogs bounced back from their first loss of the season, after a big second half saw Goulburn claim a comfortable win against the Sharks.

Gungahlin Bulls v Queanbeyan Blues
3pm, Sunday May 19, Gungahlin Enclosed Oval

The Gungahlin Bulls will be hoping to claim their second win of the season when they host the Queanbeyan Blues.

The Blues have been arguably the form side of the competition and have had three wins and one draw so far.

The Bulls will be bolstered by the inclusion of Brendan O’Hagan. The halfback has played only one game so far this season and it resulted in a Gungahlin victory.

Queanbeyan have the second best-attacking record in the competition and average 45 points per match so far.
