The Gungahlin Bulls recorded a dominant win while the Raiders Under 20’s held off a fast finishing Woden Valley Rams outfit in round seven action of the CRRL Cup.

The Gungahlin Bulls claimed their third straight win after defeating the Queanbeyan Blues 54-14 at Seiffert Oval on Saturday.

The Bulls were dominant all game, leading 22-4 at halftime before scoring 32 points in the second half.

Gungahlin halfback Connor Williams scored a hat-trick, while his halves partner Tre Holten-Williams was voted best on ground. Overall the team ran in ten tries across the park.

Bailey Rogers, Aidan Woods and Cyprian Ale all scored for the Blues.

The win sees the Bulls jump into second place, two points clear of the Woden Valley Rams and Queanbeyan Blues.

The Raiders Under 20’s bounced back from their round six loss with a 28-22 win over the Woden Valley Rams at Phillip Oval on Saturday.

Leading 28-10 heading into the final quarter, the Rams scored three late tries to get within four points on the Raiders Under 20’s. But the visiting side held on to claim victory.

Raiders halves Jordan Williams and Mitchel Souter were great for the men in green, with Williams scoring the opening try and Souter putting in a man of the match performance.

The Rams were down a player for much of the second half, with lock Steven Ferry sent off for a shot on halfback Williams.

Both sides finished the game with injuries, with Woden’s Tyler Jones and Raiders U20’s Lachlan Lewis and Manase Kaho all suffering injuries.

The Raiders Under 20’s remain on top of the ladder, with the Rams sitting in third place with two rounds remaining.

The Raiders Under 20’s take on the Queanbeyan Blues in round eight, while the Gungahlin Bulls host the Woden Valley Rams.

Queanbeyan Blues 34 d Gungahlin Bulls 6

The Queanbeyan Blues notched up their third straight win after defeating the Gungahlin Bulls 34-6 at Seiffert Oval on Saturday.

Aaron Bakker, Remy Oldrey, Keegan Caldwell, Simon Holstein, Hayden Bradley, Samiuela Taholo and Nickolas Lisoff all crossed the tryline for the home side.

Blues centre Kaleb Kearney scored his team’s only try, with Ryan Lean kicking the conversion.

The win sees the Blues finish round seven in third place on the ladder, one win behind the UC Stars and Woden Valley Rams.

 

UC Stars 12 d Woden Valley Rams 6

The UC Stars jumped to the top of the ladder after a tight 12-6 win over the Woden Valley Rams at Phillip Oval on Saturday.

The Stars are equal with the Rams on eight points, with their higher points differential pushing them into first place.

UC Stars centre Matthew Woolnough scored a double, with winger Neil Haron picking up his team’s other try.

Rams prop Kyle Smith scored his first four pointer of the season.

Woden play the Gungahlin Bulls in round eight, while the UC Stars face the Queanbeyan Blues.

Queanbeyan Blues 14 d Gungahlin Bulls 10

The Queanbeyan Blues brought the Gungahlin Bulls unbeaten winning streak to an end with a close 14-10 win at Seiffert Oval on Saturday.

Kasey Dragisic starred for the Blues, picking up a try, with Brooke Smyth and Briony Frater also scoring four-pointers.

Teagan Pateman and Georgia Smith scored tries for the Bulls, but they were unable to catch Queanbeyan.

The Blues are now in second place, just one win behind the Bulls with two rounds remaining.

 

Woden Valley Rams 48 d UC Stars 0

The Woden Valley Rams recorded their third win of the season with a strong 48-0 win over the UC Stars at Phillip Oval on Saturday.

Woden ran in ten tries, with Caitlyn Robb and Maria Posantzis each scoring a double.

The win sees the Rams finish round seven in third place, one win behind the second placed Queanbeyan Blues.

Woden take on the Gungahlin Bulls next weekend, while the Queanbeyan Blues host the UC Stars.
