The George Tooke Shield competition is heating up, with some big wins in round seven action over the weekend.

Bungendore Tigers 36 d Burrangong Bears 12

The Bungendore Tigers are now leading the competition after a 36-12 win over the Burrangong Bears at Cranfield Oval on Saturday.

The Tigers and Gordon Highlanders are both sitting on ten points on the ladder, with Bungendore’s better points differential pushing them into first.

Tigers five-eighth Robert Sheffield starred for the visiting side, scoring a try, kicking four goals and leading the team well around the park.

Thomas Warner, Mitchell Sullivan, Luke Colquhoun, Scott Bakos, Mark Hogan and Matt McKenna all scored for the Tigers, improving their points differential at a crucial time of the season.

Burrangong fought hard throughout the match, with fullback Bayley Graham scoring both of the Bears’ tries.

 

Gunning Roos 14 d Gordon Highlanders 12

The Gunning Roos recorded their third straight win after a tight 14-12 win over the Gordon Highlanders at Gunning Showground on Saturday.

The Roos scored the match winning try right on full-time to claim victory.

Gunning hooker Thomas Johnson and prop Aidan Oakley each scored a try for the home side, with a Bayley Loughhead penalty goal proving the difference in the end.

Highlanders winger Kody Tozer scored a double, with Scott Boughton kicking both conversions.

The win sees Gunning finish round seven in third place on the ladder, two points behind Gordon and Bungendore with two rounds remaining.

Gordon take on Burrangong in round eight, while Gunning play the Bungendore Tigers.

 

Specsavers GTS Ladies League Tag

Bungendore Tigerettes #1 32 d Burrangong Bears 13

The Bungendore Tigerettes #1 team kept their unbeaten winning streak alive after defeating the Burrangong Bears 32-13 at Cranfield Oval on Saturday.

Jessica O’Rourke and Ellen Shoobert both scored doubles in the win, with Cassandra Fisher and Isobel Iffland-Mihaich also scoring four-pointers.

Bears players Krystal Coker and Sara Lang scored for the home side, with a successful field goal by Georgia Tredgold.

The win sees the Tigerettes #1 jump to a six point lead on top of the ladder, with two rounds remaining.

 

Gunning Rooettes 22 d Bungendore Tigerettes #2 4

The Gunning Rooettes bounced back from their round six loss with a strong 22-4 win over the Bungendore Tigerettes #2 at Gunning Showground on Saturday.

Gunning looked very solid in their win, scoring four tries and allowing just one against them.

Tara McGrath-West scored a double in her side’s win, with Brooke McKenna and Sarah Hearne also crossing for four-pointers.

Brooke McKenna kicked three conversions for the Roos.

Georgia Laverack scored the Bungendore Tigerettes #1 only try of the game.

The win sees the Rooettes remain in third place, just one win behind the Burrangong Bears.

Burrangong take on Bungendore Tigerettes #2 in round eight, while the Rooettes face Bungendore Tigerettes #1.
