The Tuggeranong Buffaloes have strengthened their grip on fourth place after a hard fought win against the Valley Dragons at Greenway on Friday night.
The Valley Dragons dominated the early exchanges and kept the Buffaloes restricted to their own half. After forcing a repeat set, the Dragons managed to cross the stripe out wide courtesy of Ahlivia Ingram.
Emma Campbell danced her way through the Buffaloes defence to score under the posts and Dorothy Carroll duly converted to give the Dragons a 10-0 lead.
However, the Buffaloes struck at their first time of asking when a Nora Lal linebreak allowed Makayla Clark to score.
The Buffaloes hit the front straight from the kick-off as they exposed the Dragons edge defence and Karen Lyons scored under the posts.
Trailing by two points at the break, the Dragons came out firing and Ingram once again scored out wide after a period of sustained pressure.
Tuggeranong regained the lead midway through the second half as Emma Johnson crashed over.
Amanda Kyburz gave the Buffaloes some breathing room as she scooted over from dummy-half after the Dragons were reduced to 11 players due to injuries.
Tuggeranong Buffaloes 22 (Tries: M Clark, K Lyons, E Johnson, A Kyburz; Goals: A Kyburz 3) d Valley Dragons 14 (Tries: A Ingram 2, E Campbell; Goals: D Carroll)
