Mr John Barilaro, MP for Monaro was at Mick Sherd Oval in Bungendore today as he presented a $350,000 cheque to Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council for new change rooms at the ground.
Bungendore Tigers Secretary, Tony Rayner was on hand for the presentation and said that while the result was fantastic for the town, further upgrades are needed.
“We’re over the moon about it,” Rayner said. “With our growing game, obviously the women are a big part of our game now, so there will be four sheds which accommodates the girls.
“Bungendore is in desperate need for more sporting facilities as we’ve outgrown what we have currently.
“At the moment we have our three sides that play and train on the ground, while the union side also use the ground for training on Wednesday and Thursday.”
Construction on the new sheds will start during the middle of this year, with the new sheds being complete in time for the 2019 season.
