The Canberra Region Open Women’s Representative side will be holding trial matches at Raiders Belconnen on 10am Sunday February 18.
The selected side will then play trial matches before competitive games on Sunday March 25 against the Riverina, Illawarra and Western which will act as a trial for NSW Country ahead of City-Country Origin.
Open Women’s Representative coach Sharleen Coomber is looking forward to seeing young talent take advantage of the pathways available to them.
“Before last year they didn’t have a pathway so it’s a good time for them, especially with the possibility of the WNRL in 2019,” Coomber said.
She also encouraged all female players within the region to have a crack at making the representative side.
“Just come down and have go,” Coomber said. “You’ll never know until you try.”
To trial, players must register their interest and be participating in a recognised rugby league affiliated competition. Players must have already turned 17 to be eligible.
