The final Regular Season Round for CRL Representative Season was completed over the weekend and the Semi-Finalists have been determined, with the Men’s Under-23’s and Women’s matches to take place in Woy Woy on the 30th March and the Andrew Johns and Laurie Daley matches to be held in Forster on the 31st March.
Round Five of the Andrew Johns Cup produced some entertaining matches with Northern Rivers and Western Rams the only two teams remaining undefeated, after wins against the Greater Northern Tigers and GSR Wests Tigers respectively. Defending champions Western will take on the Greater Northern Tigers in the Semi-Finals, while Northern Rivers will play the Penrith Panthers.
The previously undefeated North Coast Bulldogs drew 22-all with the Newcastle Knights Development Squad in the Laurie Daley Cup and the Bulldogs will now face the Illawarra South Coast Dragons in the Semi-Finals. The Western Rams progress to the Semi-Finals after finishing the regular season with a 24-4 win over GSR Wests Tigers. Their Semi-Finals opponents, the Parramatta Eels enjoyed a 22-16 victory over the Central Coast Roosters in Round Five.
In Round Two of the Women’s Country Championships, Illawarra South Coast Dragons second-rower Kezie Apps scored in the dying minutes for her team to win by two points. Illawarra will now face the North Coast Bulldogs in the Semi-Finals, who will be looking to redeem themselves after a 14-4 loss to Newcastle & Hunter in Round Two, while Riverina will face the Central Coast Roosters.
Last year’s Men’s Under-23’s Country Championships Finalists the Monaro Colts continued their winnings ways with a 16-12 victory over the Central Coast Roosters in tough, drizzly conditions and will face the North Coast Bulldogs in the Semi-Finals. Last year’s winners, the Northern Rivers Titans turned their Round One loss around, defeating the Greater Northern Tigers 34-10 and will now face ladder leaders Illawarra South Coast Dragons in the Semi-Finals, who had a resounding 52-10 Round Two victory over Riverina.
