CRRL Launch Canberra Region Cup

CRRL are pleased to announce the launch of the Canberra Region Cup in 2020 to engage traditional rugby league areas as well as developing regions.

The social mixed league tag competition will look to revive old teams in areas such as Captain’s Flat, Braidwood and East Canberra, while giving developing areas such as Murrambateman, Googong, Sutton-Gundaroo and Michelago an identity of their own.

How it works

The Canberra Region Cup is a social mixed league tag competition for participants over 16 years of age. The competition is eight-a-side, with four males and four females required on the field at a time. The game will be played on half a field with mini posts at either end. Each half will go for 20 minutes.

Ideally, games will be played mainly on Sundays and depending on the number of sides, will take place over a 10-12 week period playing fortnightly. Teams will possibly be split across two pools based on geography to limit travel. Each round per pool will be played at one home ground, to encourage a social community atmosphere with the following round being hosted by another team/club etc.

The Canberra Region Cup will begin in early May.
