Junior League in Focus: Valley Dragons

Throughout the 2018 season, we will be taking a look at what is happening in Junior Rugby League within the Canberra region.

With the junior season launching this weekend, we take a look at what is happening at the Valley Dragons in our Junior League in Focus segment.

Earlier this month the Dragons hosted the annual John Boyd Memorial Mini-Mod Carnival and it was the best the Valley Dragons JRLFC have ever produced.

The scorching 29-degree April day didn’t stop any of the players from bringing their A-game, as 70 teams representing 12 different clubs turned up for the occasion!

Teams ranged from the Under 6 through to the Under 10 age group. There were no byes and every team participated in a minimum of 3 games.

An abundance of good sportsmanship was on display, healthy rivalries were formed on the field, which always led to many handshakes and pats on the back once that final whistle blew. The friendly and supportive atmosphere around the grounds was a credit to each club that took part.

The Valley Dragons JRLFC would like to thank all of the parents and volunteers for their assistance leading up to the carnival, along with the time and effort that they contributed on the day. Without these amazing people this day would not have been the success it was. Thank you.

Congratulations to all of the teams who took out their respective Grand Finals in fantastic form. The high level of disciplined rugby league that the Canberra Region exhibited was exceptional.

There have already been several teams from the Sydney region express an interest in the 2019 carnival. We look forward to watching this annual carnival develop and grow.
