The Goulburn Stockmen went one better in 2018 as they claimed the Premiership after last year year’s heartbreak.

Despite finishing third on the ladder, Goulburn showed their resolve constantly throughout the season as they only had 72 points scored against them.

Goulburn had to wait until Round 4 for their first win of the season but didn’t lose a match from that moment onwards. They didn’t concede a single point until Round 10 when they faced Yass.

After losing to Yass 30-14 in Round 3, the Stockmen showed their improvement with a 10-10 draw. The match before they defeated the Queanbeyan Blues 30-0.

In the first week of finals, Goulburn defeated Tuggeranong 62-0. They faced the Blues once again as the two sides battled it out for a place in the Grand Final. The Stockmen held on for a 32-22 win to avenge their defeat in the 2017 Grand Final.

In the Grand Final, the Stockmen found themselves 4-0 down at halftime but fought back to win 20-8.

Season Highlight

Claiming a Premiership is always a highlight and the Stockmen managed to bounce back from their 2017 heartbreak in the process.

After a difficult start to the season, Goulburn gradually improved and peaked as they won the second edition of the Katrina Fanning Shield.
