KFS Season Review: Tuggeranong Buffaloes

Katrina Fanning Shield

Position: 4th
Win/Loss/Draw: 6-6-0
Points For: 196
Points Against: 224

The Tuggeranong Buffaloes were one of the big improvers and were rewarded with finals football after missing out by one place in 2017.

After starting the season with a big win over Gungahlin, the Buffaloes tasted victory only once in their next four matches as they faced the top three sides in the competition. They bounced back with three in their next four matches, which included a double of the Valley Dragons.

The Buffaloes proved that fourth place was a just reward for their efforts as they beat every team below them on the ladder but couldn’t beat a team above them either.

Once in the finals, the Buffaloes ran out of steam as they succumbed to a heavy loss against eventual Premiers Goulburn.

Season Highlight

Reaching their first Katrina Fanning Shield finals series was a real highlight as the Tuggeranong based side improved considerably over the course of the year.

The Buffaloes claimed twice as many wins and conceded 102 points fewer than they did the previous season.
