KFS Season Review: Valley Dragons

Katrina Fanning Shield

Position: 6th
Win/Loss/Draw: 2-10-0
Points For: 114
Points Against: 338

It wasn’t the easiest year for the Valley Dragons in the 2018 Katrina Fanning Shield as they claimed two wins during the campaign.

The side proved themselves to be competitive in patches but lacked depth in their squad and ultimately ran out of troops as the season wore on.

The Dragons claimed the first of these wins in Round 2 as they beat the Bulls 30-14 but they lost their next five fixtures. A 22-14 loss to the Tuggeranong Buffaloes was the closest they came to a win in this period.

The Valley Dragons claimed a big 44-0 win over Gungahlin in Round 9 but only scored one further try for the remainder of the season.

Season Highlight

Although it wasn’t a win, the Valley Dragons enjoyed their occasion on the big stage at GIO Stadium against eventual Premiers Goulburn.

The Dragons were competitive in the early stages of the match before succumbing to defeat.
