The Goulburn Workers Bulldogs have appointed Adam Kyle as Head Coach for 2018.
Having spent the last five years coaching the Canberra Raiders SG Ball side, Kyle replaces Michael Picker who lead the Bulldogs to consecutive grand finals in 2014 & 2015.
Having played for the Woden Valley Rams for just over a decade, Kyle is excited to be back in the Austbrokers Canberra CRC.
“I’ve been around the local scene for a quite a few years now and the opportunity to coach a great club like Goulburn with such a tight knit community is very exciting,” Kyle said. “I can’t wait to get started.”
With a host of young players coming through the Goulburn systems, Kyle is hopeful of improving on this year’s sixth placed finish.
“We’ll certainly be looking to finish a little higher than we did this year,” Kyle said. “I know that Mick Picker did a fantastic job in the four years that he was there and they only just missed the semi-finals this year.
“I thought they were a really impressive side but they probably lacked a few more experienced players around the group. We’re looking to retain as much of the current squad as we can and try and add in a couple of experienced guys on top of that.”
Joining Kyle at Goulburn is former Raiders junior Haydon Hodge who will lace the boots up once more after overcoming serious knee injuries.
“I got him to come across as my assistant coach and he’s going to put the boots on and play for us too,” Kyle said. “For an inexperienced side, as a Goulburn boy, I think Haydon will add a lot.”
