The Queanbeyan Blues have overcome an early scare to defeat the Valley Dragons 40-6 at Greenway on Friday night.
The Dragons dominated the early exchanges as they put pressure on the Queanbeyan Blues and forced a line drop out.
The Valley Dragons crossed the line twice but strong defence from the Blues kept the scores level.
However, the Blues defence couldn’t keep out the Dragons as Sandra Dalton barged her way over the line and planted the ball.
The lead didn’t last long as Kasey Dragisic scored moments later with the Blues first attack of the game.
The two sides continued to battle throughout the rest of the first half but neither side could gain the advantage as they entered the sheds with the scores locked at 6 all.
The Blues started the second half in a determined fashion and had two tries in quick succession.
Kasey Dragisic added her second of the evening as she stepped her way past the Dragons defence before Cailah Welch scored in a similar fashion.
Shaenice Allan and Makaylah Morales helped the Blues continue to pile on the points as they continually threatened the line with their pace.
Kody-Leight Hirst scored late for the Blues when she was first to reach a cross-field kick before Regan Hart dashed down the right edge to score Queanbeyan’s seventh try.
