McLean Oval in Harden is set to undergo a revamp after Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke announced that the New South Wales Government would help fund new facilities at the ground.
Ms Cooke announced that $731,405 would go towards the new facilities in addition to the $132,000 that McLean Oval had received in previous announcements.
Harden-Murrumburrah RLFC President Jason Pollard said that the whole club was excited by the news.
“Committees from both the juniors and seniors put in a lot of hard work and Steph Cooke helped get it over the line, she went out of her way to help us,” Pollard said. “We plan on building a clubhouse, a grandstand, men’s and women’s changerooms as well as upgrading the canteen and bar.”
The facilities are planned to built on the oval to make them more accessible than the current facilities and the prospect of having men’s and women’s changerooms will help the club expand their involvement in women’s rugby league.
“We’re looking at trying to get an open women’s tackle side together for 2019 so hopefully we can get that up and running,” Pollard said. “The junior league has a lot of female involvement too from Under 6’s to Under 17’s.”
