Seven different regions, including Monaro, will contest the Semi-Finals of the inaugural Andrew Johns and Laurie Daley Cups at Dubbo’s Apex Oval this weekend.
The Andrew Johns Cup Semi-finals will see the undefeated Western Rams take on Northern Rivers, with the Illawarra South Coast Dragons to go head to head with the Newcastle Knights.
The Rams possess the best attack and defence in the competition, but will have their work cut out for them against a Northern Rivers side that have made a habit out of winning close matches throughout the season.
The Newcastle Knights finished on top of the Northern Pool and will face an Illawarra side who have the second-best attack and defence in the competitions outside of the Western Rams.
The Laurie Daley Cup Semi-Finals will feature the Monaro Colts taking on Newcastle and the Riverina Bulls facing off against the Greater Northern Tigers.
The undefeated Knights have swept all before them during the regular season but will face a Monaro side who can score from anywhere on the field and pose a constant threat to any defence.
The Riverina Bulls finished on top of the Southern Pool and will be out to prove their only loss of the season was merely an aberration against against a Greater Northern Tigers side who continue to be denied when the going gets tough.
