As part of National Volunteer Week, Canberra Region Rugby League would like to pass on a huge thanks to all the volunteers that ensure rugby league is played in our region.
Every week hundreds of people volunteer their time to help their local clubs in a variety of roles including, managing teams, serving on committees, working in canteens, coaching and setting up grounds.
CRRL General Manager Mark Vergano said that he was thankful to everyone who gave up their time to help rugby league run smoothly.
“Volunteers are the backbone of our sport,” Vergano said. “We are incredibly thankful to the numerous people who give up their time to ensure rugby league is played throughout the Canberra Region.
“Not only are we grateful, it has been clear through the running of the Blumers Lawyers Good Sports Award that people within the clubs are being impacted by these volunteers. The likes of Joshua Marks, Glen Dwyer and Melissa Farfan are examples of this.
“Also, I would like to specifically thank all of our club secretaries who work tirelessly and ensure our clubs are running smoothly.”
