As the group stage of the Rugby League World Cup came to end, so did the World Cup dream for a number of players who have played in CRRL competitions.
As we entered the quarter-final stage only former Queanbeyan Blues player Jordan Rapana, and South Tuggeranong Knights junior Josh Dugan remained.
However, Rapana’s Kiwi side were knocked out of the Cup as Fiji claimed a memorable 4-2 win in Wellington.
The winger had a quiet game by his lofty standards as he ran for 59 meters and had a stint in the sinbin after committing a professional foul.
Dugan, on the other hand, set up one try and ran for 91 meters as Australia thumped Samoa 46-0.
Australia will now face Fiji as the sides look to book a place in the final.
