Season Review: Bungendore Tigers

The Tigers returned to finals football in 2018 as they easily sealed their place in the top five.

Bungendore didn’t lose a single match to a team that finished below them on the ladder as they finished seven points above Binalong who finished sixth.

With a tough draw to start the season, the Tigers only won one of their first six matches but finished the regular season in style with five wins from their last six matches. In that period at the end of the season, the Tigers claimed an impressive 32-4 win over the Boorowa Rovers who eventually finished in fourth place.

The Tigers started their finals campaign with an Elimination Final against the Rovers. Bungendore were beaten 28-20 by Boorowa and subsequently were knocked out of the finals series.

Ladies League Tag

The Bungendore Tigerettes showed impressive form late in the year to reach yet another Grand Final.

Having gone undefeated in 2017, the Tigerettes started the year with losses against North Canberra and Harden before winning seven straight matches.

Three consecutive defeats followed against Harden, Boorowa and Gunning but once again, the Tigerettes recovered to win their final four matches.

Bungendore went down 18-16 in their first finals match against Crookwell but bounced earned the right to play the She Devils again after defeating North Canberra 28-4. With a Grand Final place up for grabs, the Tigerettes eased past Crookwell 32-8 to reach their fourth consecutive Grand Final.

Bungendore almost pulled off an upset against the Hawkettes but Harden scored late to claim the Premiership.

Youth League

Position: 6th
Win/Loss/Draw: 0-15-0
Points For: 14
Points Against: 335

Unfortunately, Bungendore had to withdraw from the Youth League competition towards the start of the season.

However, they did have a close match in Round 2 against Tuggeranong as they went down 26-14.

Season Highlight

At various points throughout the season, it appeared that the Tigerettes’ run of three consecutive Grand Final appearances would come to end.

However, they showed plenty of resolve and determination to not only make the Grand Final but to also come close to winning it.
