Wins for the Valley Dragons and Boomanulla Buffaloes has set up an enticing match at GIO Stadium this Saturday. Meanwhile, competition newcomers the Bidgee Bulls claimed their first win of the season.

The Valley Dragons claimed their first win of the season in style as they defeated the Harden Hawks 24-12 at McLean Oval in Harden.

The Dragons, who lost a night match in Round 1 before winning thanks to a forfeit in Round 2, crossed the line on six occasion compared to their opponents two tries.

Jana Teivonen led the way for the Dragons as she scored twice during the match.

A lack of conversions for the Valley Dragons meant that the score was a lot closer than it could have been with the final margin being 12 points.

Bidgee Bulls 28 (Tries: M Higgins 2, T Freeman, E Hickey, T Katoa; Goals: M Higgins 4) d Queanbeyan Blues 4 (Try: K Hirst)

The Bidgee Bulls picked up their first competition points for the season as they beat the Queanbeyan Blues in Harden on Friday night.

Monique Higgins scored two tries for the Bulls while also kicking four goals in the process as Bidgee claimed a 24 point win.

The loss means that the Blues sit in six place after they were beaten by Yass the previous week.

Boomanulla Buffaloes 50 (Tries: M Burton 4, E Johnson 2, K Parsons 2, N Patu Goals: A Kyburz 5, K Parsons 2) d South Tuggeranong Knights 0

Four tries to Madeline Burton has helped the Boomanulla Buffaloes remain on top of the ladder with a 50-0 win over the South Tuggeranong Knights at Greenway.

After a bruising start to the match, Boomanulla fullback Madeline Burton caught the defence napping to burrow over from close range to score the opening try of the match.

The Knights showed plenty of fight as their big forward pack made plenty of metres, however consecutive penalties saw them instantly on the back foot and the Buffaloes made it count.

Amanda Kyburz had plenty of energy out of dummy half and was quick off the mark before setting Emma Johnson thought the line. The lock was eventually tackled but Burton took advantage of a quick play the ball to muscle her way through three defenders.

Boomanulla continued their try scoring ways as Johnson scored almost untouched from a scrum.

Another scrum provided the Buffaloes with yet another try as Burton sealed her hattrick within the first half. The fullback linked up well with Alliera Bower-Scott from a scrum within their own territory before Burton stepped her way through the Knights line to score with ease.

Halfback Kyree Parsons extended Boomanulla’s lead to 28-0 at halftime as she ran hard and direct.

Nancy Patu scored the first points in the second half as the Buffaloes spread the ball wide before the second rower crossed over the line.

Burton once again showed her speed as she returned a kick from halfway and wove through the defence to score her fourth try.

Parsons then grabbed her second of the night before also converting her own try from in front.

Burton almost had a fifth try when she made another break downfield but the fullback was wrapped up by the Knights defence. However, Johnson took advantage of a quick play the ball to cross the line for the second time.
