CRRL have paid tribute to Bob Kinkade who passed away earlier this week earlier this week at the age of 82 after a battle with illness.
Kinkade served the West Belconnen Warriors since their foundation in 1975 in a variety of roles such as coach, manager, committee member, scorer, ground announcer, timekeeper and club historian.
CRRL Committee Member Steve Troth said that Kinkade was a shining light for rugby league in the Canberra Region.
“Bob was a shining light, not just for people involved with West Belconnen Warriors but for rugby league within the Canberra Region as a whole,” Troth said. “People looked towards Bob because he was a leader and someone they could trust.
“He was a fantastic bloke and a real family man.”
West Belconnen Warriors President Steve Kirby said that Kinkade will be sorely missed by everyone at the club.
“He was a great man and will definitely be missed by the club.”
Kinkade was recently honoured by the Warriors as they renamed their scoreboard to “The Bob ‘Kinky’ Kinkade Scoreboard”.
