West Belconnen Junior Rugby League are holding a competition to name their new mascot.
The mascot, who was unveiled yesterday evening, is proudly sponsored by Kingswim MacGregor and demonstrates the club’s relationship within the West Belconnen community.
West Belconnen Junior Rugby League president Shane Scott said that the kids at the club were excited to see their newest club member.
“We had our three to five year olds training at the time and when the mascot appeared they were surprised and overjoyed,” Scott said. “There were high-fives everywhere and every kid wanted their photo taken with the mascot.”
Scott was also thankful for the support of Kingswim MacGregor.
“Without the support of local businesses such as Kingswim MacGregor we wouldn’t be able to exist,” Scott said. “This year our club has 22 teams and over 350 boys and girls registered and this arrangement helps us grow as a club and service the community in West Belconnen.
“This is provided through from our Little Warriors program for 3-5 year olds, right through to our U16 boys and U17 girls teams.”
The competition to name the new mascot will run until June 6, so head to the West Belconnen Junior Rugby League Club Facebook page and submit your suggested name in the comments section.
The winner of the competition will win four tickets to the Raiders v Panthers match on June 8.
