The Woden Valley Rams have signed Cooma Stallions halfback Zach Smith for the 2018 season.
Smith, who was a part of the Stallions side that won the Group 16 Premiership last year, replaces Mackay bound halfback Jack Hickson.
Woden Valley Rams coach Ash Barnes said he was pleased to be able to sign Smith.
“Although he is a bit older, Zach is a really good game manager and has a really strong kicking game,” Barnes said.
The 25-year-old joins the young Woden side on the back of a strong 2016 season where he was named as the Group 16 Player of the Year as well as the leading points scorer.
Smith’s 177 points helped Cooma win their first premiership in 24 years.
Having previously represented the Queanbeyan Kangaroos and West Belconnen Warriors in the Austbrokers Canberra CRC, Smith will be an asset for the Rams due to his experience and “level head”.
