Woolford named Huddersfield Head Coach

Former Queanbeyan Blues coach Simon Woolford has been named as head coach of English Super League club, Huddersfield.

Having coached the Blues between 2013 and 2016, the former Canberra Raiders hooker won two premierships before leaving to coach the Newcastle Knights in the Intrust Super Premiership.

The 43-year-old succeeds Rick Stone at the Huddersfield Giants who currently sit at the bottom of the ladder after 13 rounds.

Speaking to BBC Leeds, Woolford said he couldn’t wait to start his new role.

“It seems like an opportunity where I really feel I can come over and make a difference,” Woolford said. “The board have shown faith in me and I can’t wait to go over there and get amongst it and start repaying that faith.”
