The Yass Magpies have unveiled a new logo for 2019 as the club celebrates its 100th year.
Yass President Greg Smith said that the design sees the Magpie symbol return to its original design while there is a modern twist amongst the other features.
“We asked for ideas from Joe Logue – a local graphic designer,” Smith said. “Obviously the Magpie remained in the design but other than that he came up with the main idea and gave us several options.”
The committee ended up settling on the current logo, with the completely black and white design being a major factor.
Smith said he is expecting plenty of excitement amongst the town’s supporters once the season draws nearer.
“I talked to our new coach Cam Hardy, and he and his wife Sharon have never been more excited about anything due to the start of Yass’ 100th year,” Smith said. “I think everything will become more exciting as we head towards our first competition game.”
Originally competing in the Sydney competitions during their early years, the Magpies are the oldest club still in existence in the Canberra District.
